From the first climb into the northern mountains, the landscape starts doing most of the navigation for you. The roads narrow, the air looks colder, and the snow stops feeling like a passing weather effect. That is when you know you are getting close to Sotoyama Ski Resort. It sits in the Alpine section of northern Sotoyama, high above the lower roads and towns. You do not need to memorise a precise map coordinate, especially if that part of the map is still under fog. Just keep pushing uphill through the snowy routes and watch for chairlifts, long ski runs, lodge-style buildings, and service tracks cutting across the slopes. It is a handy place to know early on, too. Players who keep some FH6 Credits aside for a flexible garage will find the resort and its surrounding roads a good test area for their newer cars.

Getting there without chasing a hidden icon

A lot of players make the same mistake: they open the World Map, see a large patch of unexplored terrain, and try to guess where the resort marker ought to be. That usually wastes time. If northern Sotoyama has not been discovered yet, the cleaner approach is to drive there and reveal it naturally. Start from any road that leads north, then stay on the routes that gain elevation. The surface will become more wintry as you enter the Alpine zone. Snow banks build up along the roadside, corners get tighter, and there are fewer open fields around you. Once the ski infrastructure appears, slow down and explore rather than blasting past it. Drive around the main buildings, cross the nearby access roads, and check both sides of the slopes. The discovery trigger can be easy to miss if you only follow the fastest route through the area. You will soon spot the difference between an ordinary snowy mountain pass and the actual resort: the lifts, groomed runs, parking areas, and clusters of buildings give it away.

What is worth doing around the slopes

The resort is not just there for a nice screenshot, although it is one of the better places on the map for one. If you are working through Discover Japan or another photography task, park near the lifts or angle your car toward the slopes and open Photo Mode. Weather can change the look of the shot, but the snow-covered setting stays recognisable. There is also Horizon Rush content nearby, and it feels a bit different from the usual road event. You are dealing with uneven ground, quick direction changes, narrow service lanes, and sections where carrying too much speed is a bad idea. A rally build, a grippy AWD road car, or even a sensible all-rounder tends to feel better here than a drag-focused monster. It is also worth taking a few minutes to check the quieter roads beyond the main lodge. The area is linked to an Aftermarket Car location where the 2022 Subaru BRZ Forza Edition may appear. Collectors often visit for the photo objective, then leave without searching the nearby roads. That is an easy opportunity to miss.

A useful stop for mountain exploration

Once the resort is on your map, it becomes a practical landmark for the whole northern section. If you are lost in the Alpine roads later, use the lifts and resort buildings as your reference point, then branch out from there. One route can take you toward collectibles, another toward Rush activities, and another toward vehicle locations. It is worth revisiting in different cars as well. A lightweight coupe might be fun on the tighter bends, while a taller AWD machine makes rougher snow sections less annoying. You do not have to buy every new vehicle you fancy, but choosing to buy FH6 Credits when you need a more varied garage can make these side trips less restrictive, especially if you switch regularly between road racing, off-road events, and collecting. Treat Sotoyama Ski Resort as more than a one-off map discovery. It is a dependable base for photos, challenges, mountain driving, and the occasional rewarding car hunt.
